  • The maximum size of the White shark?

In recent decades both the 7+ metre monsters caught in 1987 (deemed KANGA and MALTA by scientists) seem to be the best documented candidates to me.

Deep Blue, Haole Girl and several others are around the same size today (and alive thank God).

As far as bite marks and historic records go 8 metres is a distinct possibiliy as before over-fishing it would take a century for a Great White to reach such a size.

    Who knows?

dont really matter.... great whites are prey to orcas... great white sharks used to be one of my fav growing up but once i found out they are scared shiietless of orcas, i grew out of it.

I'm not sure they have a genetic limitation to size. Some animal size ranges are just because none have grown bigger not because thy can't. Which is super interesting. imo.

Been a long long time since I knew anything about this to any degree of sureness but I think most reptiles can get much bigger than they do provided the right environment and healthcare. I think that's where the no genes to limit size is found most but I don't really remember. I guess I'm just saying it's an interesting thing to go look up.

Orcas kill S*erm Whales as well plus they are pack hunters. Apex predators sometimes kill other apex predators, tigers on bears, crocs on lions etc.

The natural world is not a video game.

Despite the endless fanboy orca bull*hit online recently there has never been a documented a attack on a fully mature female of 5.5 -7m.

Two adult bulls (Port and Starboard) killing sub-adults is not that impressive to me, neither is all the hype about an adult female orca killing a 2.5 metre juvenile White.

Orcas are lucky the Mega-toothed sharks, Livyaten, the largest Mosasaurs, Pliosaurs and the recently discovered supergiant macro- predatory Ichthyosaurs are still not around.

              - - I imagine that my .30-6 would handle all them critters, but that's too much for me to eat. Make no mistake, a *****whale could crush an Orca

One on one a bull S*perm whale would kick any Orca's arse.

Odontocetes in general do very poorly against sharks of the same size, Orcas as get away with it because they are so much bigger in the contemporary ocean.

For all those making these bold statements about marine life, How many of you have actually seen a Great White or Orca in the wild?

People follow the science and the numerous marine biologists who have.

I have never seen a Tyrannosaurus rex in the wild but thanks to decades of research by palaeontologists on the great Maniraptoran theropod I like to think many now know an awful lot about it (and many others).
