I rode the streets for many years before deciding it was just too dangerous. I'm not ruling out another road-trip but my days of city riding are over.
Bike riders only need to worry about are ****ty car drivers

in LA when I was driving commuting I’d always give bike dudes a protected zone

I got a GPZ 1987 bike ready for me to ride once I get home..

my cousin mike has a lot of bikes.

The GPZ-750 was one of those bikes I wanted but never got. Back in the 70’s I rode a Suzuki GT750, a water cooled 2 stroke triple. After that I mostly rode enduros, even had a Ducati that was an on/off road type.

Good bike to start with and learn on. Handling and fuel economy is awesome and it won't be to difficult to pick it up if you drop it. Try to wear boots, jeans, jacket, gloves and a helmet always and always be hyper sensitive to idiots on the road. Good luck.

It's a terrible hobby for the mid-aged and older guy to get into (I call it the midlife crises rider). I know a guy who became disable from an accident he had during his riding school training when he was 44 years old. Your vision and reflexes start to go, and there are many things about riding a motorcycle that you won't know about. My advice is, don't buy it.
I hear you, and appreciate your advice, j.

I figure that I'm not getting younger, and if I'm going to learn, better to do it on a smaller displacement, smaller bike. At least I'm not starting on a liter bike, lol.

My "plan" is to learn on this bike, and eventually get into a Gixxer 600.

I'm a short shit, and the Suzuki's seem to be easier for vertically challenged people when it comes to Super Sport bikes.
