Plus if boxing had one governing body like NBA or NFL, it could raise pensions for them off the nowadays big money fights.

IMO, because it's a democracy.

In practice, because it's slow, reactive, and filled with bureaucrats that take martial arts demos seriously. They need a decade of practice to decide something was the wrong move, deaths to decide something is unsafe, and, take no blame for **** all anything. Everyone focuses on the problems they fix but ain't no one pointing out how long that means they were ****ing up for, giving them a free pass.

For example, the present belt deal they're bitching about. The WBA got in a full decade before the ABC put pressure on them that turned into a real effort by the WBA. Yay ABC, thanky you so, so, so much for waiting a full ****ing decade to do yer GD job. IMO.

If you want to fight with a lazy style of taking 2-3 to land 1 can't exactly blame anybody but yourself. Same to those guys who have endless gym wars, it's not needed. Plenty of fighters got out great. Hearns, Hagler, Duran, Leonard, Klitschko's, Lennox are great (RIP Hagler), just to name a few.

If government got involved in all the places it should, before getting involved in all the places it shouldn't, oh what a world this would be. New Jersey wanted to try to state sanction and charge Martial Artists for teaching. I looked at their proposed board for doing this... hacks, ineffective, laughing stocks of the martial arts world by and large. Imagine these guys determining who can teach martial arts... Its really sad.

That tells me everything I need to know about the benefit of New Jersey putting their fat greedy hands in the pocket of martial arts teachers.
