Any tips on it cos I sometimes get bored with training. I like sparring and stuff and i'm not afraid of losing (i lost one of my three fights and was fine after it cos i knew there's always gonna be a setback in boxing and other aspects of life). I feel weird, cos I don't see the point if I can't give it 100%, and right now I just can't be assed getting out of bed at 6AM every morning to do a run. Also there's a lot of smoking in my gym and it's a very small gym so it's not gonna help me with the sport overall. The closest other gym is too far away to go there daily. Can any of you guys help with motivation? It's more to do with that I don't enjoy the training though...

Last night I think one of the trainers was smoking out behind the gym. The smell wafted into the gym where we were working out.

Now, I used to smoke infrequently (like once a month), quit almost 3 months ago; but I still was having trouble with it. I wanted to puke and had a hard time getting into my workout.

So I definitely know where you're coming from.
In that case, I'd try to find stuff to do outside the gym- like sledgehammer and tire. The less time you spend in the smokey gym the better, I'd imagine. Maybe say something to the owners.

EDIT: To get your motivation back, movies & old fights help me. Certain songs really help too. My iPod's probably been my best training tool.

Setting goals is where I get my motivation from. I have short term goals and long term goals.

My short term goals for this season (which has only just begun) is to floor all of my sparring partners, to be better than every one of my sparring partners by the end of this season and to continue being a complete winner in this sport we call boxing.

My long term goals are to be the best in the country in my weight division and to fight for my country.

This keeps me motivated. I know that every session that I train, there are others out there training just as hard and even people in my gym that are training just as hard, so I have to keep up the workrate to be on parr with everyone else who wants to dethrone me or beat me.

When I occasionally lose motivation for a brief spell I just go back and watch the fights that I most enjoy, read about the sport, learn more about the sport and vary up my techniques to try and get maximum performance.

Then again I am a determined person by nature. If I start something like this (sports in particular) I get very competitive very quickly.

These people are right watch inspiring fights. If you can get an MP3 player. And vary your training, and do training you enjoy, maybe if you dont like one think supplent if for something else that you do enjoy with the same benefit

Like everyone else said watch some of the old inspiring fights, I like to watch some of gattis old fights he inspires me alot because he just shows so much heart and is always going toe to toe, i myself havnt actually had this problem, since being a boxer has been my dream since aslong as i can remember, also having a coach who is always there and to push you helps alot.

Just try to think of what of the rewards are after training, being fitter, muscle gain and more definition, speed, power for all this you have to train for it.

Smoking in the gym??????? Wow! I thought that went out with the stone age. Maybe the reason you can't get motivated is because of the ambience of that particular boxing club. I wouldn't go anywhere near a boxing club that allows smoking. Chances are they are just a bunch of losers, and if you hang around them you will become a loser too.

Maybe you are training too hard. You should actually look forward to training every day, rather than avoiding it. Go hard one day and easy the next. Change up your routine a lot. Different combinations, different bags, different speed, power, and time intervals. Watch the all-time greats and see what worked for them, then take it to the gym. Different guys, different skills.
