  • What year was GGG “Prime?” Best time to have Moved Up...logically speaking?

HBO even said in the Proksa post fight win, “would you be willing to fight Ward?”

Esnews asked GGG if he would fight Ward in his camp for Macklin, GGG said: “Too much for me, not today?” That’s 2013.

So when would have GGG been Prime to have beaten Ward? Prime is when you move up in weights!

“But but why does he have to move up, he’s a small Middleweight anyways.” Pffffff

His prime was probably 28 years old like most boxers. You are completely obsessed with moving up. Many great fighters never moved up an ounce in their entire career. 160 is the traditional weight class with the prestige. Why would a boxer who is very comfortable and effect at 160 and busy tying a record for middleweight title defenses want to fight at 168? Hagler never did that. Monzon never did that. It is not important to move up in weight. That is just your thing. I could list 100 all time great boxers easily with some time and research who never moved up in weight a single pound. Give this moving up thing a rest FFS. With the weight classes so close together and 4 champions to chose from, moving up ain't what it used to be. Being the best at your best weight and fighting and beating everybody at your weight is far more difficult and impressive than weight jumping from weak champion to weak champion.

Prime at MW is typically between about 28 and 32 for Golovkin or anyone else. Not really seeing what that's got to do with moving up though. Dudes - with very few exceptions - move up when they outgrow the weight or when there's more money to be had in the higher weightclass.

could that have something to do with... SIX YEARS of that "anyone from 154-168" rubbish from Bullshltkin?

I agree with you... IF a fighter stays in his own lane

but Golovkin did not stay in his own lane

for years he promised to fight Ward at 168 and Canelo at 154

he also went sniffing around in Wards division... and talked about potential fights with Chavez, Froch, Hopkins, Jack, Chudinov, Ramirez... ALL at 168

come on man, cut your bullshlt... Golovkin over-promised and under-delivered... grown-ups refer to that as, under-achieving

“154-168 is easy for me, but I’ll just stay at 160 forever and my fans will forget that I wanted Bhop at 175.” -GGg
