  • Is it wrong for ESPN+Showtime to acknowledge Fury as Lineal Champion?

What’s the problem? Why are PBC only channels discrediting this now...yet again? PBC is on Showtime if I’m not mistaken

PBC introduced Tyson as the lineal champion for the Wilder fight.

The Lineal Champion angle was built as a marketing tool to help give Tyson Fury's profile a boost in order to help build his profile among the American boxing viewing audience to sell the Wilder vs Fury fight.

The only reason Showtime say is lineal is because they thought Wilder was going to beat a shot Fury and were hyping their fight, can't go back now. I bet they regret it though, now Fury is with ESPN.

The lineal champ is the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy.

Nobody took Lennox lewis's lineal championship and he retired without losing it so it became vacant. Wladimir Klitschko became the guy when he dominated the Heavyweight division for as long as he did, and Tyson fury took his lineal championship.

Nobody has beaten fury yet and he still hasn't retired, so he's still by virtue the lineal champ.

You lose it when you retire. Mayweather lost his lineal when he retired after Hatton. Fury retired and then was banned for PED use. Fury lost lineal just like Mayweather did.

                Wilder vs Fury 2
                Ruiz vs Joshua 2

Winners fight. Then the winner is crowned lineal champion. Atm imo it's vacant Fury lost it when he didn't fight for 2 1/2 years.

It does not matter really. He is still the guy who beat "The Guy" so there is still that argument. It is only being used as a marketing gimmick right now as the true lineage has been broken so many times it is laughable.

The consensus #1 was Joshua. Ruiz is the guy that beat the guy.
