  • How to increase the speed of your punches?

    Oddly I never researched speed much so I have probably room for improvement. Do you guys know anything about increasing teh speed of your punches?

    Some of it has to do with genetics and reflexes. How fast are you now?

      Look at your form, punch in slow motion, and find what elements are slowing you. Could be foot positioning, lack of rotation, winding up, form that doesn't lend to quick punches, bad timing, lack of foot/leg thrust, etc.

          Do two things:

          1) Increase the strength of the muscles involved in throwing punches.

          2) Practice throwing punches as quickly as possible--preferably in combination ("punches in bunches").

            and make sure the foot positioning is right when thrown.

                    jic, if you don't do a lot of push-ups, you should start to do it. It makes your hands 'flying', which can also be considered as speed boost, as you start to throw more easily..
