  • Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: I Want To Establish Myself as Best of This Generation

From the moment he returned to the ring nearly three years ago, Mikey Garcia's main mission was daring to be great no matter how big the challenge. The mindset has resulted to his adding major titles in two more weight divisions to his collection, all within the span of 18 months. Still, a greater desire existed than his current standing as an unbeaten pound-for-pound entrant and four-division title claimant.

Not going to be that hard. Mikey already has the best hair in Boxing for this generation. 2000s was the Pac Mans blonde curtains with moustache circa 2001. Young King x

Personally would like to see him establish himself as the best in at least 1 weightclass on the way tbh.

That’s not Spence’s game plan. He’s not going to go for an immediate KO that would be just stupid and wreckless against a fighter like Mikey. Aside from the height, reach and power advantage, my concern is that all that unnatural bulk is going to affect Mikey’s speed. This fight will end by stoppage. Mikey is fighting Spence cause no one else will and whatever flaw he sees in Spence it won’t be enough to stop a guy that nearly rehydrates to 160. Outboxing Spence is the only way to Mikey winning this fight but to go 12 rounds with the biggest welterweight is a far cry. Win or lose, I give Mikey credit for taking on the biggest threat he will face in his pro career.

Mikey has Supreme confidence. Rare in this sport nowadays he reminds me of Fury, Wilder, and Pac with his mental strength,, but much more calm and collected.

I actually think he's pondering early retirement... thus this fight.

Mikey has cherry picked his opponents for his entire 39 pro fight career and now he believes one fight against his first high quality opponent will erase his previous 39 fights, no way! Mikey is a good fighter but it's a shame he chose to go the easy route. Best of his generation? Not even close!

I see nothing wrong with it.
At least he didn't need to demand retirement money.
