  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Crawford is Tougher Fight For Khan, I Wanted Khan-Brook

Eddie Hearn, who has one fight left in his promotional deal with Amir Khan, is not being critical - but he wanted to finally deliver the long awaited grudge match between Khan and his domestic rival, Kell Brook. Khan was offered the opportunity to face Brook, for more money than his upcoming fight.

Of course it is, its difficult to sit here and criticise Khan for taking the Crawford fight over Brook. Forget the money, he would be fighting for a world title. Has he even fought for one yet at 147?

It was actually a smart move by Khan. Doubt he beats Crawford though.

Reading it, it makes sense. Crawford is a bigger name/better fighter than Brook, he has a title at 147 and the fight is more meaningful than a potential Brook fight. On the downside, you know he'd rather get in there with a lion that Brook and everyone knows that.

Still, I'm not mad that we're not going to see the Khan/Brook fight its a few years too late and both are past their best.

          I don't think so.
Brook flattens Khan in about 3 rounds almost always and with Khans biscuit chin he can always make you look foolish but stylistically Khan presents real problems for Crawford and I am just not sold Crawford has enough pop or the ability to put Khan away when he does inevitably fade as always.

I want to see Brook but this is the right move for Amir, win or lose.

'Wanted it for five or six years'....Five or six years ago it would have been a terrific fight. Now they are both shot.
Khan has done NOTHING to deserve this fight and looked absolutely finished in his last contest you've got to say Business wise=money wise (as Khan always points out)it's the right move.Nobody in their right mind expects him to beat Crawford and Bob has put him there as his 1/10 fall guy.The gamble here is good for Khan as if he's in there for a few rounds and gives Crawford a some problems of which I doubt but losers then people will say he was beaten by an elite.Khan is taking this with the knowledge that Bud is still a small welterweight who as good as he is he's still filling out at the weight.I saw Bud recently in conversation with Spence and they looked two weights apart .The Amir Khan who beat Koteinik and Maidana is no more and it will be made obvious he should never be the same ring as some one like Bud .Who may well do him great damage and finish the Brook back up plan forever.

Now it's made , good luck to Khan he's British after all, just hope he gets to spend his money.

He did say he really pushed the financial viability of the fight to make it happen.

If Algeri bothered Khan with his shots (among many others) then Crawford should be more than capable of stopping Amir. It won't matter anyway if Khan gets stretched yet again, the Brook fight will still be offered to him & it will still sell big in the U.K. where they always forgive & forget their fighters loses. Aside from his bigger cut Hearn prefers the fight with Brook because it's a very winnable & lucrative fight for Khan as well.
