  • Would Deontay Wilder benefit from building up his legs?

    For the Luis Ortiz fight he weighed 214 lb and his legs looked like drain pipes. Would there be any benefit for him to build up his legs, maybe put on another say... 14 lb of muscle? Coming in around 225-230 lb with some thicker legs? He seems to have a good chin, but he's done a few chicken dances on rubber legs through his career. He is flat-footed most of the time too. What would be the pros/cons? Does he benefit from having stick legs?

          He was 214 because he was sick leading up to the fight . He has be as high as 229 and almost always
          In the 220 range . And to anwser your question no he is 40-0 39ko with 7 defenses of his belt all be stoppage i think he is doing just fine with what he has .

            We have haters. And then we have phaggots who get triggered by people asking objective questions about their heroes. To clarify, I like Deontay Wilder and I've said several times I think he beats anyone out there. The only person who has a chance is Tyson Fury, if he can get back to his best. I am not hating on Wilder by asking a theoretical question. I know he's the best or at least one of. I was just wondering if there'd be any benefit to him not skipping leg day. Like, if it gives him even better punch resistance and less of the chicken dancing, then that can only be a good thing right? I know his punches come from genuinely windmilling his bodyweight into them, so big legs wouldn't make any real difference to his power.

                  As a fan, I think he benefits by adding just a little. He is typically around the 220 lbs mark, save for the illness he suffered. If can get bulk up between 5 - 10 pounds on his legs, it may slow him down a little but help with better balance.

                    No I don’t think he would benefit from more mass on his lower body, some fighters draw power from the rotation and others draw power from their legs and posterior chain but I believe Wilder draws his power from his speed and his god given explosive ability.

                    I think he is great where he is, it’s actually refreshing to see true power from someone so skinny, for me it puts all of those steroid meatheads who think mass equals punching power in their place
