I really see this relationship ending like Don King and Mike Tyson.
One is vulnerable to the other (literally, Mayweather cannot even read a contract), and one is a businessman, who always looks out for his interests first in a crisis situation, and recognizes the sanctity of a contract when things get tight.
Things are obviously very tight for PBC.
With HBO out of boxing, Showtime does not have to press too hard (not that there was any competition overlap anyway). Point is, without HBO, boxing is generally cheapened across the board in the US market.
With Al having tremendous difficulty keeping his fighters active, and the streams of financing totally dry, he really only has Mayweather to go back to.
Overall, it is a very toxic situation for everybody involved.
Mayweather still has his market value when matched correctly. (Against a top guy he can still generate lots of money for the business. Though against Berto as we learned he can't generate ****).
When the **** hits the fan and Mayweather can't fight anymore, and the moneystream is dry, how will he even defend himself?
I bet he'll have to go back to someone like Don Hale or Shelly Finkel, or maybe even Todd Duboeuf and Arum.
Or maybe Don King if he can still fight a bit.
