  • Does floyd hate the sport of boxing

Yeah, it's a dumb question. Mayweather thinks about himself and does what's best for Floyd, his love or hate of boxing don't come into it.
You couldn't blame a person for wondering though, considering he announced the MacGregor fight days before Ward v Kovalev and scheduled the PPV a couple of weeks before Golovkin v Alvarez.
I don't blame Floyd, he's just being himself. Mayweather for all his money, is a small minded guy, always was and always will be.

Who's in boxing thinking about boxing first? I'd argue no one. Everyone is in it for themselves.

Thats why boxing needs some central power structure that actually would look out for boxing first like the NFL looks out for football or the NBA looks out for basketball.

True. If there was a way to spread the money out a bit, tighten up the rankings and have one title per weight class, I think you'd see a lot more good, competitive fights and more fan interest.

Most of what drives this sport [sadly] is speculation.I guarantee if we ended up with unification fight after unification fight. The average daily user base on this forum would drop. Significantly. You think fans are horrible now? Most of these people prop up fighters so hard, then once they lose. They don't check on their next fight day, find out which opponent they're going to try and rebound against....nor do they actually figure out the date or station to try and support their said fighter.

Today's boxing hardly has fans, it mainly consist of guys who support a guy that goes against someone they dislike. Notice how a lot of people stop talking about, or remove a fighter from their signature/avatar once they lose.

Its the fighters who make the sport, and Floyd Mayweather has always been generous to other fighters who have fell on hard times! (If my memory serves me right! There was a south american fighter who fought during his uncles era, who fell into poverty after he retired! Floyd Mayweather apparently paid for his medical care when he fell ill, and also supported his family with money!)..........so yes? I don't think Floyd Mayweather hates the sport at all! It is quite simply a massive part of his identity.

Boxing will hate his existence once Conor KOs him and takes over the sport.

Boxing is a business for him, and like any business, he's smart and knows you have to be the best, once there YOU dictate to everyone else, not the other way around. This is a profession and thus you must be a professional and look out for yourself. Floyd has learned through mistakes guys like tyson, holyfield, etc have made and is using that as an example of what not to do. Notice how all of these 'supposed' tax issues came out right around right as the press conferences started up? Notice how now you've heard nothing about it? All part of the hype, all premeditated...all of what he does is.

No, he just puts himself and his family first, as he should.

No boxer in world boxing would turn down $100m+ to fight a UFC fighter in boxing, i don't care how much of a supposed purist they are and whether they are retired or not.
