  • [HOLY S**T!] The law takes it in the pooper, sex offenders ok in Alabama

    You can't make this up.

A judge says teachers can have underage sex with students because it unconstitutional to charge them.

It's not as simple as that. I read about this on another site earlier.

The judge said the 'victims' were of the legal age of consent and it wasn't proven she used her position as a teacher to coerce the sex so the law didn't apply in this case.

I'm not saying I agree with the judge, but I see his logic.

If I had an 18 or 19yo kid, I would definitely not want them to be having sex with their teacher (even though they are of age).

Whether that should be a matter of law is up for a reasonable debate. I think just by the teacher being in a position of relative authority, the possibility of the student feeling like they have to oblige is present. Even if the teacher does not explain explicitly that they must do so or face some kind of repercussion.

But if the student in question is of consenting age, says that the sex was consensual, and does not appear to be under duress when saying that... I could see why that would be ruled legal... even if I'm very uncomfortable with supporting that.

One thing to consider - should it be left to the schools to determine their policies regarding conduct involving consenting age students? I imagine no one would have a problem if a business decided on it's own accord to ban sexual relationships between employees and their superiors, but many would have an issue if this became a matter of law -- but does that apply to the situation of adult age students and teachers/staff members of their school?

Eh, I can't say I've ever had any teachers I would have wanted to have sex with.

In my day they all looked like this

            or worse

Also, something tells me your attitude on this would be different if it was a male teacher and a teenage girl.

**** it, I say make it legal. We should have condom and water distribution at every school.

Each packet should come with little pamphlets that tell you about STDs and the serious risk of dehydration during strenuous activities like sex with your teacher.

I wonder if this applies to sexual relations between students and teachers of the same gender.

i said in a thread that this is the way the world will go. being a pedo will be okay and it will be there right to have sex with kids, because we cant discriminate against them and their beliefs.

It's worth nothing that the students in this case are over the age of consent in Alabama. The question being addressed here is whether it should be legal for teachers to have sex with students over the age of consent. This isn't about condoning sex with underage minors.

That being said, I'd feel more comfortable with all teacher-student sexual relationships being off limits, regardless of age relative to age of consent.

Anyway idea of a slippery slope here is silly. I have no issue with anyone's sexual preferences as long as they involve consenting adults. That isn't ever gonna to change, and I don't think it is reasonable to assume the worldview on this is gonna change either.
