  • FACTS About Saul Alvarez for SEPT 2017

Brook is not Alvarez. Power, Style... not even comparable

Wade, Monroe Jr... also not Alvarez...

Jacobs, many here will say that Jacobs is the superior boxer to Alvarez, well I think Alvarez vs Jacobs would be very similar to Kelly vs Barrera...

Of course Chavez Jr is not Golovkin... but Alvarez has enough power to move Gennady's weight also.

We saw how Kovalev reacted when Ward was the more counter aggressive fighter this time, completely different than the first bout.

The fact that GGG fans are acknowledging that the Kazakh will box from the outside suggests this fight he doesn't want to get tagged to the body in which Lemieux or Jacobs' style would be inferior in precision. Same goes for targetting Golovkin's head.

Gennady needs to load up and time his shot correct? What happens if Golovkin gets caught to the liver with his leaping hooks? Who from Gennady's opposition ever attempted a body shot strategy or could they? Kovalev can take a punch upstairs but against an elite body attacker what makes you guys think it can't happen to Gennady?

Just saying... I thought Mexicans are known for going blood guts and glory?

Been saying the longest, I say Nelo KO's home fries!!

This is a great matchup and will be by far GGG's best opponent. I think GGG's size and skill will be too much for Canelo, but Canelo will also hit GGG like he's never been hit before. The hand speed of Alvarez will ensure GGG gets stunned a few times. But if GGG can stand up to that he should be able to turn Canelo and control the fight.

This could be a war. Canelo has only tasted defeat once and that was against an all time great boxer who he simply couldn't catch. It's not like Canelo was beaten into submission. Canelo has faced much better fighters than GGG has. Jacobs is a B level guy and used his length to give GGG all kinds of problems.

Not sure I can see Canelo getting away from Golovkins jab in the fight. And I'm not sure if Canelo can take the kind of left hook to the body Macklin was dispatched with. I haven't seen Canelo knock out anyone who wasn't chinny. So I'm not sure about he's power at middle.

Should be a great fight. The problem with Canelo is he likes to a breather on the ropes.. I see some hard body shots by GGG that might take the wind out of him. But may the best man win..

Just like Ward's power at LHW?

I don't know, I don't think Ward is a big puncher as such, after all he didn't knock Kovalev down even after hitting him with a perfect right hand. He got a somewhat controversial stoppage, not a clean knockout. Kovalev has never proven he's durability, although anything can happen in boxing, I don't see why the first guy who can knockout Golovkin should be a guy who hasn't knocked out anyone durable. I mean, if Golovkin was going to get knocked out it should be against a taller power puncher who stopped a good fighters in a round, was on a knockout streak and fought at supermiddle. Like Jacobs. And Canelo's knockout should've come against a stationary drained guy with no stamina who didn't fight back. Like Chavez.

Agreed, as I've been saying, Canelo can land to the liver and to the body in general and hurt Golovkin. No doubt about it.

Unlike Kovalev, Golovkin is a chess player in the ring and should have a plan for Canelo when he goes to the body. If not, he could lose.

Golovkin needs to work behind his jab and set up his shots, with good variety, and with lots of hooks mixed in. He needs to sell some shots.

Oscar's an idiot, suggesting that Ricky Martin or Marc Anthony could sing the Mexican National Anthem for the September fight. Then the reporter asks Canelo how he felt that Oscar said he'd like for Marc Anthony to sing the Mexican National Anthem... Canelo calls the reporter an idiot for suggesting that a Puerto Rican would sing the Mexican National Anthem... and the reporter probably asked him that question too because Canelo just started dating Marc Anthony's ex-wife, Shannon De Lima.

To be fair, I'm a GGG fan but Canelo is going to counter his jab with a right hand, which will cause Golovkin to drag him into a dogfight
