  • You ever heard of the boxing bloodline? What do you think about this?

    Saw this post on reddit and was wondering what are your thoughts on this

    I've noticed that many undefeated fighters mainly call out Mayweather not for the money but so that they can become better than Sugar Ray Robinson via the Bloodline. Heres what I wrote previously in regards to it:
    Mayweather beat Pacquiao, who beat Bradley, who beat Alexander, who beat Maidana, who beat Ortiz, who beat Berto, who beat Quintana, who beat Paul Williams, who beat Sergio Martinez, who beat Pavlik, who beat Jermain Taylor, who beat Hopkins, who beat Tarver, who beat Roy Jones, who beat Ruiz, who beat Holyfield, who beat Tyson, who beat Larry Holmes, who beat Ali, Who beat Archie Moore, Who beat Joey Maxim, Who beat Sugar Ray Robinson.
    The most significant fight of the modern era was Roy Jones vs Ruiz because without this fight the link between the Heavyweights and lower weights would forever be broken. There would be no way for Mayweather to beat Tyson if that fight never took place.
    Mayweather beat Oscar, Who beat Camacho, who beat Ray Leonard, Who beat Hagler, Who beat Hearns, Who beat Wilfred Benitez, Who beat Duran.
    Now what does this all mean for Canelo?
    I'll tell you what it means Canelo has been "branded" by Mayweather. As Canelo goes on to potentially be a great, all of his victories will essentially be a victory for Mayweather too. This creates a link that will make Mayweather the bridge to the past and future fighters and since he is undefeated it means he is the only way boxers can access this link.

    Whoever made that post also got beat...over the head as a youngster..... While it's cool and stuff to link people through history, it has absolutely no bearing on anything whatsoever. People wanted to fight Floyd cause they'd get paid, have a chance to take his zero, and even if they lost they'd take zero damage in the process and their careers wouldn't be harmed at all.

        Yea it's a cool thing to discuss but the part about it being the reason people called out Floyd should've been left out

          I doubt that's the only lineage connecting SRR to active fighters but I can't be bothered to check on BoxRec

                Lol, a little dramatic. Instead of;
                "Mayweather beat Pacquiao, who beat Bradley, who beat Alexander, who beat Maidana, who beat Ortiz, who beat Berto,"

                They could have said;
                "Mayweather beat Berto"
