  • Mcgregors actions deserve respect and should be mirrored

What Mcgredor did is the equivalent of Canelo moving up to fight Fonfara, or a Tony Bellew type in the span on 6 months. I think more athletes should challenge themselves in this way, especially top 10 boxers.

Also, if Mcgregor played it conservative(keeping distance and boxing) after the first round he could have easily won that fight. He out boxed the **** out of Diaz for a round and a half and seemed to gas. I'm confident Mcgregor would win a rematch.

it seems that nate diaz is actually a career lightweight (155 lbs) but the fight took place at welterweight (170 lbs) because he was a late replacement and didn't have time to cut weight. and mcgregor is by all accounts huge at featherweight (145 lbs). so, in boxing terms, it would be the equivalent of two middleweights fighting each other at the light heavyweight limit

Respectfully, this is not what happened.

McGregor was getting a $1 mil guarantee for this PPV even before he got his PPV cut. Had he not fought, he wouldn't have gotten the payday.

Diaz was the only "respectable" PPV level opponent available after Aldo (I believe) turned the fight down. SO McGegor took the fight to preserve the payday.

I don't think the loss should be held against him, but I think any boxer in this position also fights.

exactly.....It would be like Lara vs Charlo at 170....its not like McGregor moved up and fought a true 170 pounder who cuts weight to make 170

The McGregor fans think he jumped 25 lbs. The haters think they're the same weight because McGregor is huge for 145 and Diaz is a smaller 155.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. McGregor was visibly smaller than Diaz, but Diaz took the fight on a short notice. Both actions are commendable and deserve respect.

This just proves that Connor cuts alot of weight to fight smaller dudes exactly like Chavez Jr.

You're clueless. He fought a 155lber with a 2-3 record in the last 5 years, and weighed the same as him. Diaz always does the same thing. Eats punches and eventually wears the other guy down and submits him. McGreggor was just another victim, nothing special. Diaz had NO CAMP OR PREP coming into this fight, what makes you think Connor would win a rematch if Nate was actually able to train for the fight???

You fell for the hype, get over it.

Diaz is a big 155lber...but he was still at a much bigger disadvantage imo. The guy had no camp.

a bit of an overstatement, what both men did deserves respect if that's the case, connor cuts a lot to get down to 145. he just lost conditioning was bad. if they fought at 155 and diaz had time to prepare for the fight it would actually be worse for CM.. IMO, hes still a great fighter tho
