  • ODLH wants to continue the Canelo size charade

Who we trying to kid here?? Oscar wants no part of GGG. Not now..... not later.... and certainly not at the weight best suited to Canelo's body: 160 pounds. Oscar would rather Canelo face the likes of Bradley and Khan. I'm sure there's a lot more big names that for some big bucks would be willing to be inflated to somewhere near the new 155-pound division, for Canelo to feast upon. After all, why change a winning formula after all these years, right?

Oscar wanted no part of Lara or Trout either. Canelo ultimately decides who he fights.

You're not saying anything new here, how far fetched that a promoter would rather have his biggest star take on low-risk fights rather than facing the boogeyman.

            Bingo....
Canelo is not like those Al Haymon puppets, he calls his own shots. If he wants to fight GGG he will and he will fight who he wants in May.

I'd be surprised if Canelo went all the way to 160 but honestly who cares if it has to be at 158. If Golden Boy want to retain the weight issue as a negotiation point then that's on them but as long as they don't abuse it with some 155 nonsense then I can live with it. Golovkin's tight at 160 but he's not a skeleton. It will still be a real fight.

For everyone who believes Canelo will eventually face GGG at 160 (even after some..... cough.... "buildup" fights)..... I've got some well-priced beachfront property in Nebraska I'm selling right now. Send the money and I'll send you pics.

Agreed. Not a chance. I don't even think Canelo will agree to 158.

Canelo is the "A side." He's going to demand 155, 156.

And yes, I agree that GGG was doing something similar in offering 164 to Ward. However, Golovkin doesn't hold a SMW belt.

But anyway, everybody who is able to play weight games to gain advantage over an opponent, is doing so in today's unregulated boxing world of zero meaningful titles and belts.

Give Canelo credit for winning the lineal middleweight title. That's not a charade and that's not feasting on anybody. That's beating Cotto who was highly respected and the middleweight champion. Oscar is over protective of Canelo but Canelo isn't having it. Canelo was supposed to duck Trout but he fought him. He was supposed to duck Lara but he fought him. Many thought he would lose to Cotto but he beat him. Now he is supposed to duck GGG but he might surprise you and fight him. If he fights some little guy like Khan or Bradley I will be disappointed in him but please don't jump on him for a crime he has not yet committed.
