  • Recent Examples Of "Hypejobs" Taking The "Fight They Work Ducking"

yeah yeah I see the title mistake, **** my autotext

I'm so sick of the biased ass people on this board who don't give credit where credit is due and discredit proven fighters esp. after they take a fight primarily because of the fans demand and not a financial one. On that note, by this board's standards(if unbiased of course) GGG should be the most hated guy on this board...but let me start off

Danny G-Matthyse - This is one that comes to mind. Everyone swore Danny was ducking this guy and we all know Danny could have taken better paying fights but he took Matthyse. After that fight, he took some easy fights but hell, didn't he deserve it? Matthyse gave him hell and as a SMART fighter, he's taking a break to let his body fully repair before taking more big fights where he probably knows he'll always take damage because he's there to be hit.

Canelo-Lara Yep, call him flat footed, call him slow, call him out for having a dumb strategy for Mayweather but NEVER accuse him of ducking. Him taking the Trout fight should have earned your respect, but then the man went to fight Mayweather, Lara, Angulo, and now Kirkland...come on now, that's a hell of a list. What he does in the fight is another story, but props to him for being the 3rd biggest cash cow and taking this super high risk super low reward fight. You bastards still hate on him

Khan-Maidana The old Khan was Top 5 Most Entertaining/Must See boxers EVER. The man was built for entertaining fights...because you are sitting there in high suspense waiting for that chin to be cracked but in the midst of that, you see some super fast hands AND HILARIOUSLY STUPID MISTAKES(remember when he lunged half way across the ring to throw a punch vs Maidana). Anywho, the guy was always a high paid guy and I remember when people said he'd avoid Maidana like the plague and he took the fight when he didn't have to.

Go ahead and add to the list

BTW, not to turn this into a GGG hate thread but don't you all feel he should take a super high risk fight to get all this credit? I can only give that type of praise to a fighter who takes a fight where its at least a 50% chance he'll lose and GGG has yet to do that and there are PLENTY of fights that present that risk

I was just thinking of Garcia in regards to another thread. Garcia fought two tough fights in a row with Judah and Matthyse, then he fought Herrera which turned into a tough fight (or some might say a loss) for him. Now him coming back with Salka was not the greatest, but I watch fights in the ring so i wanted to see how it would play out. But for a young up and coming fighter, I dont mind a softer touch after being in 3 straight tough fights.

Ducking in the sport is that high that we now give credit to guys who fight the best when that is what they are meant to do......

Judah wasn't supposed to be a tough fight, though. It was supposed to be an easy KO victory and that's what most predicted it to be. I don't like giving fighters credit for tough fights that aren't supposed to be tough.

That being said, Garcia gets huge props from me for Matthysse. That fight is the gold standard for this thread topic. I didn't expect that fight to happen then, and I was one of the loudest voices on NSB saying Matthysse would slaughter him. He did things that night I didn't think he could and I thought that win would springboard him into stardom. It's a shame what has happened to him since.

Mayweather/Mosley is another great example of this.

For GGG to take a fight where he has a greater than 50% chance of losing, he would have to move up to LHW.

someimes people yell duck at the drop of dime, but boxing has a history of fights that are supposed to happen not happening for a while, alot of these situations are just that tho some are ducks

Agreed. Ward at smw maybe, that's about it. But how can people give him sh't for being TOO good? When's the last Floyd was in a true pick 'em fight? Corrales? I don't know if I would even count that one. Diego was already struggling to make 130. At LW it would have been a true 50/50.

Floyd would be favored against any opponent at 147 or 154, so that means he should fight at 160 to have challenging fights?
