  • Is it me or boxing is not what it used to be...

I mean I do love the sport but I am not as tuned as I was before. this past year has been bad Canelo does not impress me Mayweather is really not being challenged other than Maidana really surprising us all. All other fighters are cool but not as Pac used to be or JMM or Maravilla or that super 6 tournament (168) you name it. Im just not that interested as I was.

It's been a down year is all. It's too bad the big names in boxing don't have the guts Bernard Hopkins does. Too many diva's and terrible managers unwilling to take risks. Next year will pick up.

Hope you're right.. Been disappointing year so far, but also expensive with all the ppv events I've ordered.

Future has to be bright again....

I have the same feeling and with the NBA as well (since it's the only other sport I follow as closely). It feels as if the business aspect of the sport has overcome the competitive purposes athletes played for. There used to be pride in competing and proving yourself, the physicality and the rivalries... It felt genuine.

Somewhere along the way they became celebrities instead of athletes, business men instead of competitors. Now it is all about being financially smart, politically correct.

It is way more complex than how I've described it, but you can get an idea of what I am trying to get at.

Yup you are right. It just sucks for example in soccer it is very rare to identify a high skilled player with a team, since there is alot of movement because of the monies. Im pretty sure the NBA is the same. Its just sad man.

Not sure if serious, boxing is exploding in popularity and there is new ocmpetition, some horrible decisions and fights this year but also some great ones and more to come.

              WAR BOXING!!!

One good recent trend in boxing is how quickly some of the former amateurs are pushing themselves in the pro ranks - Loma, Rigo and then some of the others like Usyk, Beterbiev, Khytrov, to name a few and even Kovalev to a degree. Hopefully they're setting a new standard and trend in the sport, and there will be more of this to come. You know those Cuban and Ukrainian boxing teams have a lot of pride and want to prove it in the pros, though you've got to wonder how the Ukraine crisis will affect their boxing program, if at all.
