  • Paul Williams vs Vernon Forrest at 147..Fernando Vargas vs Kirkland at 154

Who wins these fights and why?

I give Paul the nod because of his size and activity. No disrespect to Forrest.

Vargas beats Kirkland simply because Vargas is a better boxer with better endurance.

When Vargas fought Trinidad his best moments were when he was avoiding Trinidad and boxing. Trinidad was faster and more active than the slow plodding Kirkland.

Granted it's was only a small physical difference but I always viewed Paul as a middleweight.

But really my point was basedon the amount of punches Paul would throw.
Remember how Mayorga beat Forrest. He basically windmilled his way in and obliterated a very good Boxer in Forrest.

Paul would do the same IMO.

Forrest and Vargas win because they were the better fighters overall.

Williams was a volume puncher with fairly average power that liked to work at close range, nothing like the marauding, unpredictable, heavy-handed brawler that Mayorga was.

Mayorga was a stronger guy then Williams and could walk through big shots...i am not sure Williams could just walk thru Forrest shots like that...but hey that is just my opinion

I respect that, and have much respect for Forrest.Believe me I wouldn't be shocked if your scenario with Forrest winning would have taken place in the fantasy arena.

Both were warriors who didn't duck anyone...I could even imagine a trilogy.

The matchups are very interesting. It would boil down to who makes the other guy fight his fight. Forrest wins if he keeps the Punisher on the end of his shots and utilizes a lot of movement. The Punisher wins if he applies that pressure and makes Forrest work every second of the fight.

The Vargas/Kirkland matchup is all fireworks. Whoever landed cleaner quicker wins.
