  • Juan Francisco Estrada vs Giovani Segura

Does anyone know if this will be put on HBO, or Unimas? This is the kind of fight that deserves to be the main attraction on Boxing after Dark or Showtime.
On another note, I haven't heard any hype or just press what-so-ever leading up to this fight, what gives?

I think it will be shown on BeIN tv or whatever it's called lol. No hype because the weight class is too low for the casuals. Shotime wouldn't invest in it and neither would TR, unless it was set in China where smaller fighters are a lot more intriguing for their new fans since the Asian market is rather new and fresh to the scene. Plus the fight will go down in Mexico City, thankfully in front of a crowd that doesn't discriminate the smaller weights and actually gives 2 flying ducks about them.

So yeah.. great fight overshadowed by the bigger weights sadly. You also have Yaegashi vs Gonzalez a day prior and no one in the press that matters is even caring enough to whisper about it.

The weight class is irrelevant for networks like hbo/showtime. When is this fight?

Sorry to pitch in but HBO kinda cares for the Flyweight division since their Chinese Cashcow is a 112 pounder. Until he is bled dry, Bob will continue pushing the division..in China. The fight is on September 6th.

Estrada should win this, but Segura could surprise him

He's a once in a lifetime cash cow though, once he's gone the division will be irrelevant again.

Sept. 6 could be one of the best nights of boxing this year: Broner/Taylor, Matts/Ortiz, Frampton/Martinez 2, Estrada/Segura, and Wlad/Pulev. This is a FOTY candidate. We're a month away and still no word on what network it'll be on. It deserves to be picked up by a major U.S. network.

Man didn't realize they all fell on the same day. That's gonna be an epic day/night of boxing

I think the last Wlad fight was a real letdown from ESPN's perspective so it'll be difficult to see them buy the rights for another fight.

A few weeks ago, I read on the spanish ESPN website that both Estrada and Segura have not reached a deal on the split purse. Both are still negotiating. Both however, have also been training for the fight though. You can find some information about Juan Francisco Estrada on Spanish websites. English websites often talk about Brian Viloria wanting a rematch with Estrada. Can't seem to find any information on English websites that is actually about Juan Francisco Estrada.

I read that a few weeks back as well but found this article last month..

                    http://www.notifight.com/artman2/pub...nte_Segura.php

Not sure if you read a more recent one but according to Estrada's FB and Twitter he is training hard and began camp I believe last month. Perhaps they resolved their issue? Also… I'm not 100 percent sure as I didn't like the broadcast of Takayama vs Rodriguez Jr on BeIN Tv but I think that's where I heard them say this fight would be broadcasted there as well. Again, not 100% because I have rewatched the fight around 5 times but on the Box Azteca broadcast lol.
