He made Canelo Vs Lara happen. If that wasn't the best fighting the best then I dunno what is.

I would be the first to admit that I am far from an Oscar De La Hoya apologist but I also like to give credit where credit is due. At least he has been reinstated back on HBO to promote cards on their network with the recently signed Hopkins/Kovalev bout.

Mind you this is after HBO had vowed to never televise another one of his events or do business with his company ever again after an almost two year hiatus; 20 months to the November 2014 date to be exact.

So he must be making some major inroads and progress in the sport. In addition, I think it's good for us boxing fans in general in order for him to help pull off such a tremendous feat of this magnitude.

Did HBO say this about GBP or Haymon?

HBO had vowed to never do business with Golden Boy again after they took Floyd Mayweather, Jr off their network in 2013 in order to sign him with Showtime.

However, as far as this current deal is concerned regarding Hopkins and Kovalev; Al Haymon has nothing to do with it because he has no dog in this race. Bernard Hopkins is his own self manager and has been so since 1995.

So this current HBO deal was worked out between his current promoter Oscar De La Hoya and the Vice president of Golden Boy Promotions Eric Gomez.
They were the ones who had negotiated that deal with the execs at HBO and not Al Haymon; Since B-Hops is a self managed fighter.

In this case, the middleman Haymon was cut out of all negotiations.

No he did not, Canelo vs Lara was the last fight done by Richard. All fight after that have been De La Hoya since he is in charge now, we are getting the worst cards ever by GBP

Yh, we all know that he didn't want that fight to happen. I'd credit Canelo if anything.
