  • If Angulo produces a great 'Mexican' style victory over Alvarez, could he be a star?

This Q is mainly for the Mexicans among us...

I'm wondering this because from my viewpoint over here in the UK Canelo doesn't seem to be the typical fighter that Mexicans throw themselves behind. He's a counterpuncher and a boxer before he is a fighter and he doesn't have that same machismo you'd expect from a Mexican.

Angulo does have those things. He's rough tough and likes to push the action. If he could produce a mauling KO win (I'm talking the kind where the other fighters will is broken) in this fight could we have true Mexican star on our hands?

Would the more traditional Mexican fanbase flock to the guy who KO'd the pretty boy counter puncher?

Would his previous KO losses count against him?

Angulo already has a big fan base. When he was an undercard fighter most of the fans where there to see him. If he beat canelo he can be a star he just needs to keeo on winning which would be pretty hard with the fighters at 154.

He would probably be Floyd's next opponent, he's on his 'list'.

Only if he goes on to clean out 154, which isnt likely.

I would be nice for Angulo to get that big support from the Mexican and Mexican american fan base if he koed canelo but the problem is this version of Alfredo is on the downside of career already. Alfredo looked much better pre-Kirkland fight. He's punches were sharper and quicker and had alittle better all around movement.

He will never be Chavez or morales type stardom, but could hit the margarito level
