  • What PPV sales really means

Nothing. Who really cares? It doesn't define greatness. Ive never seen in the Boxing HOF where one was represented by greatness due to the amount of PPV numbers someone has sold.
Not once did i look up at a picture and go ..."man, i wonder how much money he made". Truth is. I dont care. What i do care about is the fights he fought, how he fought and who he fought. There are so much emphasis put on numbers by certain fighter and fans. In years to come....nobody will even care or think about it. A real fighter will need more than numbers to cement a legacy in the minds and hearts of boxing fans for years to come.

    Sure it does...

How great can you be if you sell, let's say, 100K PPV buys?

The more you sell, the more your star power. Part of the greatness.

            Agreed.

An example of greatness is coming from behind at 40 years old and knocking the supposed P4P #1 opponent out cold. Stiff. Not even twitching. That was truly great.

            Great topic.

Exactly. But people remember and reflect back on and are intrigued by is who he fought , how he fought wins and losses...and things like him fighting 5 times in one month in 4 different countries. The money he made means nothing.

Just move on already, man. Floyd doesn't give a **** about team Pacquiao and couldn't care less about the fight. Manny has stated that he's satisfied with what he has accomplished in the sport and couldn't care less if the Floyd fight happens or not. Just move on, man.

You make a great point but couple yrs ago when Pac was putting up rediculous PPV numbers it mattered to Pac nutthuggers. #1 P4P, #1PPV...etc. I mean....it was non-stop with this same topic. Dont know if you were like that but what you said here is true. PPV really shouldnt matter but Floyd is great without the PPV numbers.
