  • Mayweather/Alvarez PPV on Time Warner

How will the dispute between Showtime and TWC affect PPV numbers? Will we still be able to purchase the PPV and if not where and how?

Time Warner is only like 10% of all cable/satellite subscriptions so it'll affect it by 10% at most.

TWC 10%? Really doubt that. TWC is the main company in all the big cities (NYC, LA, etc)

I saw a list somewhere listing all the top companies and how many subscribers they have. Let me look for the link.

But Showtime is the one doing the PPV.

I am one of the several million being affected by TWC dropping CBS.

I can't even watch online shows from CBS because of this.

They need to solve this **** fast because I have never missed a PPV. hopefully Golden boy will counter this by doing an online Golden Boy promotions ppv stream, or carry it as an independent on TWC like how Top Rank has their separate broadcast from HBO boxing.

According to this, there's about 12 million Time Warner subscribers. And according to this, there's about 102k cable subscribers.

It's possible the areas Time Warner serves has a disproportional number of boxing fans though so I guess it's theoretically possible that they'll lose more than 10%.

Top Rank streams most of their PPVs with their own commentators. Golden Boy could do the same.
