  • Alexis Arguello final career record

Apologies if this has been previously reported.I was just looking through Alexis's record on boxrec and i noticed his record was 89-8 which looked unusual im pretty sure it used too be 84-4 and looking down through it there are fights now updated with a note underneath stating that the info is sourced from Bob Yalen and Paul Cesarine.Just taught id mention it incase others were interested too

Well, he lost to Vilomar Fernandez, Ernesto Marcel, Aaron Pryor x 2, and some bum at the start of his career, so that's 5. The other 4?: thinking:

    Did he make a comeback?

I just went and check boxrec to see if he made a comeback at some stage after Pryor losses, and while he did lose one more fight, he also lost a few very early fights right the start of his career.

I had always thought of him as one of those guys, like Hopkins, Marquez bros, that lost his very first fight, but he actually lost a few right at the start so that's where it comes from. The losses in his prime though were to Marcel, Fernandez and Pryor.

Yes he did. And watching him lose handily to someone named Scott Walker on ESPN was pretty sad.
