  • Why can't Floyd just skip to the Canelo fight?

Do we really need to see Floyd Mayweather against Robert Guerrero?

This would be an atrocious choice, his worst choice since his comeback. I have been OK with all his other fights since his comeback (yes, even JMM) but this takes the cake. You'd think seeing an epic like JMM vs PAC would make him think about topping it - but no, he wants to fight Guerrero.

And people who say RG is more proven that Saul FACT TRUE FACT - wait, beating Aydin and Berto makes him a better choice than Canelo?

Question - would Canelo beat Aydin and Berto? Yes, it's something that can be asked, as Floyd now chooses opponents from two weight division, so we can compare RG and Canelo.

Damn right, he would run through Berto and Aydin. FACT is that RG hasn't proven much either, especially not at WW. This is the guy that skipped the JWW division altogether FFS.

The legitimisation of RG as an opponent is a joke. Do people forget that a couple of years ago, he was stinking it up on HBO against Casa and Escobedo. What about the way he quit against Yordan?

And now, he's a "young hungry lion" cos he exposed Andre frigging Berto? Oh yeah, I forgot he's the Golden Boy Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year.

    Please people.

Floyd is scamming you. We don't need this fight.

    Canelo fight has genuine intrigue.

    This?

    Floyd Mayweather against Robert Guerrero?

    Seriously?

    My sentiments exactly.

Only reason I see for them to postpone is so that it can marinate.

They'll have Alvarez vs Trout on the undercard in which case the undercard would be better than the main event.

Then they'll have Alvarez-Mayweather in September.

Not a reason to pay $60.

Because Floyd can fight them both in one year that's why. Money.

I'm not so sure Alvarez beats Trout if this indeed takes place.

LOL at people believing he will fight again in September that`s just 3 months after. You really think a guy like floyd will fight again after such a period of time? Once he get`s the money from his next fight he will go on vacation again and wait for an easy opponent to come up next year.

That's why I think this guerrero fight is bull****. You fight once a year and it's not even what the fans want?

Yeah I agree. Which is why if they're smart they'd just make the Canelo-Mayweather fight ASAP. More money, easier target.

Alvarez vs Trout ain't happening. GBP have made being a fan of Canelo, as I am, a thing to be embarrassed about - they have matched Saul in such a way that their is no chance he will lose before he fights Mayweather. I'm fairly certain it's gonna be Cotto, especially as it makes more financial sense (and that's pretty much all it comes down to these days).

Honestly, we don't need FMJ versus Canelo to marinate. Floyd does huge numbers anyway, why do they need to build a fight?

Floyd vs RG is just a glorified tune-up. It cannot be stressed enough how woeful a fight this is.

Floyd follows up the monster fight between Pac and JMM 4 with....this?

Pac vs Mosley made money too.

I agree. A loss to Mayweather is not seen as a bad thing since he's young and Mayweather is one of the best, but a loss to another fighter may reduce the likelihood of what seems like Canelo's inevitable superstar paydays.

If Floyd is going to fight someone the size of Canelo then it should probably be Sergio. If he does fight Canelo then he should fight Sergio at some point given that Canelo is the same size as him, has not offered a catchweight (unlike Sergio), and is 15 years younger. Not to mention that Sergio is considered a top P4P fighter., so there is a legacy component as well. It could also be avery marketable fight.
