Usually around my immediate family I can be half naked...but anyone else in the fam who doesn't see me everyday get this uncomfortable look when I'm half naked on a hot summer day.

2 points:

1/ Within Pakistan, it is only the ethnic Pashtuns who are OTT. The other ethnic groups are much more relaxed.

2/ Myself, and others like me born and raised in the UK or US or else where in the world, - especially if well educated - are much more inclined to adhere to 'local' norms. Indeed, 1/3 of UK Pakistani guys are university grads -the 3rd best rate in the nation (after Indians and Chinese origin Brits), and within that third, liberalism is quite common.

Just my close friends include an ER physician, a lawyer for a major tech firm, myself (writer) and a few teachers. All liberals.
