Good scrap between the top 2 P4P women boxers in the world. Reminds me of the 1st Cotto-Margs fight. Mathis reminds me of George Foreman. Holly is so skilled. I love fights like that, where its a smaller skillful person vs the bigger person with no technique but has all the will in the world to go along with the size & strength. Watching it more it reminds me also of Bowe-Holyfield. Ill watch these women fight all day but they need a real ref next time because he was terrible.

that was an old school a$$ whoopin, holm could've gotten seriously hurt, too much pride in the corner, the fighter, and as mentioned, the hometown ref... she was dead in the water and the kept letting her fight. props to the other chick for slanging them guns, she took her medicine too.

Holm got some balls, she herself could've quit but went out there and took her ass whooping. If girl fights where like this one I would watch tthem, but usually girls sports suck

It's disturbing when a fighter is too brave for their own good, like Holly Holms against Mathis, but neither the referee or her corner come to her rescue. That said, Mathis deserves credit for a job well done: she punished Holly superbly with those thunderbolt right hand shots, culminating in a spectacular KO.
As for the re-match in 90 days, I wonder how well Holly's scars will heal. The wound below her left eye was very ugly and deep - another tribute to the power and precision of Mathis's right hand. No doubt the champion will look to work on that weakness if they meet again.
Despite the incompetence of the refereeing, the brutality of the slug-fest did much for the credibility of women's boxing. These two warriors should be proud of themselves.
