Wladimir says July 2 date is agreed on
by Alexey “Oscar” Potapov
IBF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KOs) have reached a preliminary agreement for a unification clash on July 2. The fight will take place in England or Germany. Wladimir spoke to us about the news in Kiev, Ukraine during a master-class for talented children participating in the “Sports Ukraine Build Together” program.
“We have never so far not entered into negotiations with the team of Haye. David for several years has connected his name with Klitschko. This is what he gets. He is an excellent promoter, but in the ring you’ll see what kind of fighter he is. The contract is not signed yet, but we already have something important – a preliminary agreement on July 2. By the end of 2011, all the titles in the heavyweight divison will be mine and Vitali’s. The fight will be in Europe. We are both Europeans and I think that there will be more interest in the Klitschko-Haye in Europe than in the U.S.A. We will divide the money fifty-fifty.”
On April 30th, Wladimir Klitschko will defend against Dereck Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) in Mannheim, Germany at the SAP-Arena.
