SHOWTIME’S BANNER YEAR SLOWING DOWN A STEP?

2005, A YEAR FOR FIGHT FANS TO FONDLY RECALL?
Fresh off my first vacation in two years, there’s nothing I want more than to dive into what is shaping up to be a stellar fall fight season. We’ve got the rubber match: Antonio Tarver-Roy Jones III; THE rematch: Diego Corrales-Jose Luis Castillo II; and the Ukraine versus Africa (or African descent): Wladimir Klitschko-Samuel Peter/Vitali Klitschko-Hasim Rahman. That’s enough to get the barbershops rocking. On the way to those destinations, we have some other weekends to get through and this Saturday is one that few seem to anticipate. After a year that has seen Showtime blow HBO (if not HBO PPV) out of the water, they seem to be putting on their second subpar show in the last three months. All is not as it seems.
