  • Why Was Dirrell So Afraid To Engage Froch?

It was like watching some beefed up Somalian run the 10,000 meters.

Why was Dirrell so negative and afraid to engage Carl Froch?

He was green, nervous, and Froch has a reputation as a big, tough puncher. If they ever fight again Dirrell will knock him out.

Andre Dirrell hadn't fought anyone on that level before. I think the experience gave Dirrell a lot of confidence though.

I think the hostile surroundings, Froch's tough guy reputation and Dirrell's inexperience at the highest level all played a part. Whilst I think he outboxed Froch comfortably, he still looked a bit starstruck and lost out there.

He came in much wiser against Abraham and stood his ground very well against a guy with an even tougher reputation.

Those are some whacked out statements. Dirrell was scared basically?

          No.

Dirrell's style is just to outbox. Not as in out technical fight/point fight your opponent. As in, the style of out-boxing ala Muhammad Ali. Jab and avoid followed by the occasional right hand and then avoid some more.

That is why Dirrell didn't engage Froch, it isn't his style to engage opponents. He just out-boxes.

If Dirrell had fought Froch the same way he fought Abraham he would of got a win in that fight too.

Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit.Dirrel did what he did,he was hardly hit and was just a victim of home cooking.Froch knows it and he doesnt want to fight away from Nottingham because he knows in Nottingham all he needs is to survive a KO and he will be gifted a decision.

I dont know why some people think boxing is about slugging it off

If you have to ask this question, you don't know **** about boxing and should be watching more boxing, instead of trying to talk it...

The answer is simple, he is a pro boxer not a toughman brawler, if he stood toe to toe with either fighter he would have been knocked out... If we got into a fight would you just stand there and let me punch you in the face to show how tough you are? I doubt it unless you like getting knocked out and stomped in the dirt...
