This is my take on how the conversation might have taken place.
Marquez wanting to fight Floyd:
JMM-"Hey Floyd you a great boxer. I'm the #3 P4P boxer and i would love to fight you when you come back from retirement."
FMJ- " You're also a great boxer but i'm a welterweight and you're..not."
JMM-" Yeah i know but we can fight at a catch weight of 144."
FMJ-"Well i'm a welterweigh, i would prefer to fight at my normal 147lbs."
JMM-"I know, but I really want(my biggest payday) to fight you, thats why I called you out."
FMJ-"I guess it would be a good fight, you have pretty good fan base, you gave Pac all he can handle and it would make a nice come back fight.. but i would prefer to fight at my normal weight."
JMM-" Come on Floyd Pac fought Oscar at 147 and he had'nt weighed that in 10 years so 3 pounds shouldnt be that bad."
FMJ-"True, but normally you dont challange someone then ask for them to fight at a lower weight".
JMM-" Your logic is sound and you may think i'm crazy for saying this but..i also think you should pay $300,000/pound if you come in over the catch weight of 144lbs."
FMJ-"B*tch please!! You're the one calling me out!"
JMM-"Calm down Floyd I know you've never come in over weight but you're much bigger than me and i think its only fair".
FMJ-"Real champions dont need catch weights, if you call someone out, fight them at their weight, remember Hatton."
JMM-"True again but i'm a small guy and you're huge, its only fair. If you drain yourself a little it would be a more even fight"
FMJ-"........OK, i guess i can go for 144lbs."
Weigh in: FMJ-" Sike!" i'm not draining myself, here's your $600,000.
After the fight:
JMM-" Floyds extra lbs was just too much for me. He was too big"
THE HATERS- "Floyds a cheater, Floyd gets no credit for the win. Floyd was probably 160lb in there! It doesnt matter that Corrales out weighed Floyd by 11lbs or Oscar out weighed him by 12lbs or that Castillo out weighed him by 10 pound...this fight was unfair. Marquez(the #3 P4P) was a midget compared to Floyd!"
Believe what you want this is just my take on the ridiculous hating that took place over the Floyd/Marquez weight issue. In my opinion Floyd should've just never agreed to the catch weight. Marquez tried to take a page from Pac's book with that catch weigh mess but Floyd chose to not drain himself. Floyd always make weight for whatever class he's fighting in. Floyd is the perfect WW, he walks around within 7 pounds of fight weight year round but some how he was "atleast 160" with Marquez. Please!.. Floyd...and Pac for that matter are the type of fighters who stay in fighting shape all year. That's why they're special. Nevertheless haters will always find excuses for why their fighter got beat.
