  • Did Emanuel Steward Blame Jack Johnson for the deaths of innocent blacks?

He blamed Jack Johnson for all the blacks that were killed because of Jack Johnson beating White boxers?

A poster claimed this is NSB?

And later went on to praise Joe Louis.

really its the fault of a racist America, though jack johnsons pride and lack of modesty really didn't help his race make friends.

For a very long time there was a lot of resentment in the black community towards Johnson because of his antics. Many blacks believed he set their cause back by decades. Jack Blackburn, for example, despised Johnson. It wasn't until militancy came into vogue in the 1960s that Johnson was elevated to hero status.

it was probably a somewhat common sensibility among prominent Blacks, i doubt it was among the masses.

I couldn't say one way or the other. I doubt we'll ever know as the prevailing though among the common black wasn't really recorded in those days mores the pity. I do know Johnson did himself no favors when he drew the color line himself after winning the title.
