I've been posting with a member of Boxingscene on another board for almost 10 years, who happens to be Zales nephew. I've PM'd him to see what kind of input he has and will pass it on.

I think he did although I'm not sure.

It has been said that Zale offered Robinson a title fight but to be honest he should have been busy defending against deserving challengers such as Jake LaMotta, Charley Burley, Bert Lytell and Holman Williams instead of a welterweight.

How true is that, Zale probably held the title during one of the strongest ever MW eras and met none of them.

Will say that if Sugar said good evening to me i'd look at the window to see if it was dark.

                Response from Tony Zales nephew.

I don't think it's true actually because my uncle had said, he was the best fighter he ever saw.
I can't remember if it was my uncle or my dad, but one of them said, Robinson was a stick, he had no muscle, he was wiry but he could hit like a ton of bricks.

And could fight like no one's business.

You realize he died in 1997 so that had to be in the 80's when I talked to him about Robinson.
He was very nice about other fighters on the whole.
I can ask my dad what he thinks, and if he thinks that is true, but I honestly doubt it bro.
Thanks man. Hope you don't mind if I pass this on. I haven't mentioned your name and will not do so unless you say otherwise. Be nice to see you over in the history section more.
                Yeah, that's ok.
In return, next time I go to my mom's place, I am going to scan some pics for you of Tony at Gary Sportsmens Club in his older years.

It may be true, but I have a hard time believing it in all honesty.
