  • Who Thinks That Sgt Pepper's Is Over-rated?

Me. It's not even the best album The Beatles made. Let alone the best album of all time. But according to the stupid pricks called Rolling Stone it is the best album of all time.

It was different. The Beatles were masters of changing their style and really still getting people to love it. This had some hits and it had a different feel than their other albums; people attached to it.

Beatles albums I'd rate over it:

        Revolver
        Abbey Road
        Rubber Soul.

I knew I could count on you babes. The White Album could have been something special had the filler been taken out.

Yeah pepper's slightly overrated, but who cares really

It's just one more brilliant album by the most brilliant group of all time.

The Beatles were overrated in general. Nor were they as original as people would like to believe, they were just more mainstream. Not to bash them, just that there was much better music in that period. The Yardbirds are about the only 60s-rooted band I can listen to anymore, everything else has been played to death. When you're learning to play, it's good to take an interest in classic rock as musicians at the time had more skill on average.

              Bring on the hate.

Sgt Peppers was a very good album, but it is a little overrated. I preferred Abbey Road, Rubber Soul and the White Album.

The Beatles were the top pop band of all time and were actually very creative. But without the guidance of classical musician and studio producer George Martin, they never would have been able to create anything as sophisticated as Sgt Peppers.

The Beatles has great vocal harmonies, but their individual voices weren't anything special. Paul and John covered each others weaknesses in different ways. Paul's voice was rather flat, and the lyrics to his songs were shallow and impersonal. John's voice was high and had a curl to it, and his lyrics were very personal and emotional. The best Beatles songs were co-written (although one or the other may have come up with the idea and started writing the song) and featured them singing together.

George timing on lead guitar always seemed perfect. He was strikingly smooth and professional on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, showing no nervousness whatsoever. But although he sang lead on a few Beatles songs, he didn't have a great voice.

They did have talent - for example, if you listen to the bass on Abbey Road, Paul seems brilliantly creative. His bass really made the song "Come Together" worth listening to - otherwise it was garbage, with John being on heroin at the time he wrote and sang it. However John, before he got heavily into drugs, was the better of the two at writing lyrics. He wrote some great songs such as In My Life, and helped Paul to finish the lyrics on his songs (for example, Hey Jude).
