  • Want to start boxing, cant seem to lose weight

I wanted some advice/ opinion on something. I'm 26 and about to attempt to start boxing. not trying to do anything more than MAYBE amatuers... might not even go that far, i will see how well i do. Anyway, heres my situaton...

two years ago i was 152 lbs, and it didnt take all that much ridiculous work, or time, to get there. Now, it seems as though my metabolism has taken a nose dive. i started working out pretty intensely 3 months ago, i am in good shape, i can run 10 miles pretty easily, swim for 2 hours straight, do lots' pushups and pullups, but cant seem to get below 175... and i dont have even close to a big enough swing to bang at 175lbs. when i started 3 months ago i was 192, lost the initial 15 pounds in 2 weeks, but nothing since then, really. any tips?

any of you other guys in your late 20's experience the same thing? i guess it's my fault for letting myself put weight back on, but i got married and got lazy!

I've been exactly there. Try a colon cleanse. Seriously. I dropped 8 lbs. in two weeks using psyllium and a colon-health supplement and it restarted my weight loss after about a 15-lb. loss and then a plateau. You can seach for "psyllium" on this site and you'll find a thread in which I logged my results. Get it? Logged. Ha-ha.

Seriously, though. Psyllium husk with an herbal pill to help shed the lining of your colon. Sounds gross, but you might very well be carrying around 5-10 lbs. of putrefying stuff in your guts. Get rid of it and you'll metabolize food better -- and that weight that you scrape out with the psyllium will be gone for good.

I went from 205 to 170 in seven months; I now walk around at 165-170 and fight at 164, real damn strong, too.

Also, cut out sugar. All sugar. Read your labels and don't eat anything with high fructose corn syrup; HFCS makes your liver generate extra fat and the insulin spike from refined sugar makes losing weight a real ***** once your metabolism starts to slow down, which it sounds like yours has.

    Welcome to manhood. Good luck.

You also might consider cutting some of your daily calorie intake down by about 250 to 500 calories. This has helped me alot. When I started boxing I weighed 185 lbs, I currently weigh 163 lbs and still counting.

i think this might be one of my problems... im eating too little. ive noticed my energy is drained sometimes. back when i weighed 152 i was eating around 3000 - 3500 calories a day, just all really healthy stuff. i would say im between 1500 and 2000 now. it's such a careful balance between too much and not enough...
