  • Jimmy Ambriz Stripped of the K.O.T.C. Super Heavyweight Title

MMAWeekly.com's Ken Pishna reports that not only will Jimmy Ambriz not compete in the upcoming King of the Cage pay per view but he has been stripped of the K.O.C. Super Heavyweight Title.

It appears Ambriz has now signed a pro wrestling deal to compete in the New Japan organization. Yes this is the same federation that currently has former UFC Champion Josh Barnett competiting.

Ambriz orginally signed to fight Eric Pele for the King of the Cage title on April 16th, but now that has been changed as he is heading to Japan. The Nevada State Athletic Comission will not let a fighter compete within a 30 day period. And, since the two events are scheduled within those 30 days, Ambriz could only take one fight.

Pishna has had it confrimed that Ambriz will most likely fight against Barnett in New Japan Pro Wrestling and they are trying to build it as a legit shoot fight. While that is in question, the money Ambriz will receive is not .

Pishna has been told that Ambriz will make somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000 to get into the ring with Barnett;.... so of course, King of the Cage can't stand in the way of such a large sum of money from Japan.

The likely scenario for King of the Cage is to have Pele possibily face Dan Bobish as they don't have a ton of options at this point. But that's just talk, and nothing has been confirmed as of yet

Damn! another fighter gone pro wrestle! Sucks, for us as the fans that love seeing Ambriz kill. Oh well, I guess ya gotta go where the money is at. $50k is a nice chunk of change for a fight. Especially when KOTC is paying him MAYBE $2k a fight. I know he will kill Barrnett if matched up with him in this wrestling venture in Japan. Good luck to Ambriz and his future.

The NSAC sucks ****, tyhese douchebags won't let two fights take place w/in 30 days for what? I would really like to get a tape of Pele vs. Ambriz,, but these ******s are taking away all our fun. It's not Ambriz's fault either, he's just beingf a smart buisnessman, he' fight both I'm sure, but if he has to choose he's going to choose the one that makes him the best money. Hopefully his fight w/ Barnett will be exactly that, a fight. It'd be nice to see him fight Pele later on too. I'm praying that this is a fight (it has been promised to be as much) and that Ambriz gets another chance at the KOTC title and if not, he goes to Pride. Imagine Ambriz vs. Sapp.

I think Ambriz would own Sapp or Barnett in a legit match.

Ambriz moves great for a big guy.I really hope he stays in MMA. Him and Sapp or Erikson in Pride would rule.

                  Blue Bulldogge - agreed 100%

curly- that would be a great match up too. however, i think big cat is a little slow for the weight ambriz brings. i would love to see it though, it could go either way, but i would say that ambriz has more of a chance.
