Timely thread
I think the uneducated or undereducated in America are more visible than in many other countries. In most countries I've visited you can easily find a guy who can't spell, but he's not getting on TV, doesn't have internet, etc.
In America you can be dumb as **** and still make millions, you can even get a TV or radio show. That's a virtue of ours, which indirectly makes us look bad.

They might not have the internet, and they might not have word. Plus they can take spellcheck off if they want.

....Quite possibly that is the case. Probably due to the fact that post High School education is free in some other countries. If it's free then every knumbskull is going to take advantage of it, but do they then take it for granted. Anyone can get an education in the US as well in the form of grants, scholarships, student loans, etc. etc. I suspect that when someone actually pays for thier own education they take it a little more seriously. We may be undereducated but somehow we manage to overachieve. If other countries choose to drain their economy by handing out free educations to every little puke out there then that's their perogative. In the meantime, we will just keep running the world and making all the important decisions for everyone.
