Historically speakin Tyson is probably UNDERATED now! Possibly overated in his prime. Every1 slags him off as gutless and so on but the 1st Bruno fight u mentioned was a perfect example of the fighting heart he once had! He got tagged by a big shot from a huge puncher, hurt bad, he comes whailing back! He loved to fight and had plenty of guts, i just think he lost his passion and fighting spirit sumwhere along the line.

I couldnt of said it better. Even if Tyson wasnt the greatest he deserves to be mentioned in the class of Joe Louis, Jack Johnson, Rocky Marciano, Muhammad Ali , and all the other greats.

Thanx. I just think sumtimes peeps forget just how good he really was! His record and accomplishments mite not quite match up to the top lads but stick them in with him in his prime and peeps be knowin he's for real! I can remember a quote from Reg Guttridge during 1 of Tysons Prime fights: "People compare him to Joe Frazier, but of coarse he's much better than that!" How time changes things eh!

this guy cannot be for real...

he starts a post ..."tyson very overrated!"

              and his justification of this?

"bruno did very very well in the 1st round of there fight"

somebody get this guy a glass of water a podium and an award because i think we got ourselves the next howard cosells

Tyson overrated…absolutely…his first 19 fights were against extremely subpar competition, but this was Cuz plan, create the invisibility aura of Tyson so by the time the fight came, the mental game was on and Cuz new how to exploited..I am not saying that Tyson was all hype and no essence, he had power and skills but not to the level we all tought when he won his first HW title…but it was a matter of time that someone big, fast and with heart would exploid Tyson deficiencies which were firdt exposed against Quick Tillis, a fight he should have won easily and IMO came ot a close judges decision, closer than what the cards shows…Tillis show that if you take Tyson to the deep rounds, he style and stamina would start to break his arms would drop and his leg work will became flat footed..this was the plan for Buster Douglass, which BTW, is a friend an I have talj to both him and Johnny Johnson, and they had the plan layout….and they carried to perfection!!
