I think it's a nuanced conversation. Using
and, more importantly, understanding range is a piece of defense.
Defense in my opinion is the art of not being hit with effective punches. One can block, parry, roll and completely avoid a punch to nullify the...

Pitbull versus El Rayo will be a violent one as long as it lasts. Isaac will have to avoid the heavy hands early but I expect him to grind his opponent down.
I can't believe Mares is still fighting with that bad eyeball. Their first two fights were decent but I'm not sure we need to see...

Ruiz is an interesting one. He has that win over AJ which is a big feather in his cap. He has losses to AJ and Parker but his next best win was a decision over Ortiz in which he dropped his shopworn opponent several times but was also outboxed for long stretches. His next big win was Arreola (who dropped...Left Hook Louie likes this.

With the Saudi money behind it, I am hopeful they will be in relatively decent fights..maybe I'm too much of an optimist....Zaroku likes this.

Hughie has some skills and can take a punch. His passive style and apparent lack of pop will limit his ceiling.
He's lost to Parker, Pulev and Povetkin in the oast and I'm not sure he can do anything to improve his game where he beats that level in the future....

Good to hear that Bill Haney is doing okay and has his chin held up high after those 12 rounds with Garcia. Alot of "we" talk for a dude who only stepped in the ring before and after fight and in between rounds....

Helluva question. Last I saw him was the Campaign fight which was a bit tougher than expected. That was about a year ago.
I think he was going to school so maybe that has interrupted the boxing career....SweetPbfAli likes this.

I noticed that and wondered if it was something encouraged by the promotion OTX.
These OTX cards kind of remind me of the old KO Nation thing that HBO did back in 2000/2001. Trying to make the sport more relevant to youth (live DJ, social media stuff, etc). I could.tske or leave that but...

Regarding commentary, DAZN really needs to make Corey Erdman their primary commentator. No disrespect to any of their other guys but Erdman is the best and most knowledgeable in their stable.
Ak and Barak aren't bad but they did show a healthy dose of bias towards Scoby in the main e...edpboxing likes this.

Dude has a heck of a chin, good motor and enough power to make a difference.
He's incredibly awkward with everything he does in the ring but as you accurately state, "he makes it work for him"....

If Garcia was to somehow win, his subsequent downfall would be that much worse. He's his own worst enemy, the unexpected success would fuel more bad behavior and decision-making. He'd most likely lose his next fight if he even managed to get past all the drugs, mental health crises and stupid behav...JakeTheBoxer kiaba360 like this.

Entertaining card. I would take these kind of cards every weekend.kiaba360 likes this.

I hope Scoby's team didn't just look at those 6 losses and think Dakota would be a soft touch. He beat Matthew Gonzalez (even tho the judges had it a draw) and beat Josue Vargas. Only time I've seen Linger dominated was against Brandun Lee.
That was an entertaining card....Hitmon likes this.

Going in I thought Kurt would win but I thought this was a tough matchup for Scoby. He was undefeated but had limited experience. Linger always brings it with deceptive power and has a helluva chin...tough fighter.
I like Linger, he's what makes boxing what it is but I also feel heartbroken...

Haha. Good point.
In regards to fight preparation, I seem to recall in the build-up to an HBO-televised fight, there was a video clip with Junior high as a kite, eating Cheerios while wearing his pink speedo underwear.
I miss those days in boxing......A.B Counterhooks likes this.

I have a feeling something like this happens. I'm the Pick'Em, I went with Haney by KO late. I could see him refusing to get off his stool after getting thoroughly outboxed.
This dude is becoming more and more like Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr....but worse....
