Estimates of UA dead were 70k last August at the height of the offensive, and 20-30k in April 4 months earlier so climbing at as much as 10k a month (300+ per day). Sound high? Even currently UA command recently acknowledged 100-200 dead per day and that's whilst on the defensive and assuming it isn't...

https://edition.cnn.com/2024/04/17/p...ill/index.html Bit slippery really. Sold as $61 bil for UA but actually only $14 bil in direct aid with 10 of that 14 repayable (improbable) 23 bil for the yanks to replenish their own stockpiles, and 11 bil for Yankish operations in the region. Which leave...Kris Silver likes this.

Another Blyatmobile on the roll in Krasnohorivka.. damn those things look ungainly but it seems like they serve their purpose. Nice piece of field improv. Russian turtle tank - yes, the type everyone laughed about - transporting Russian invasion forces to central Western Krasnohorivka under intense Ukr...

Be speculation at this point but it's hard to see anything much positive for Ukraine right now. Way it looks to me with the manpower and morale situation even if they get a big injection of cash / materiel it's debatable how much difference it'll make... but war is funny like that. Lot can happen in...

Mmm. Much as expected, continued steady progress from the Russkies... Southern Krasnohorivka under attack, further advancements along the railway line North of Avdiivka. Russkies taking a few more Km2 every day in the East. Things ain't looking good for Ukraine. Ukraine still holding on around Robo...

Tell me about it, I've wasted whole days chatting **** on here and chasing up declassified documents or checking the specs of military equpment or researching the methodology behind casualty figures or such bullchit. Ah well. Did just manage to get my assignment handed in at 7 minutes to the midnigh...

Fuck's sake. I'm suppossed to be writing an assignment on Adolescent Development Theory due in tomorrow. Studying up on Freud, Erikson and Piaget. Some reason I can write for hours on geopolitics and all manner of **** which has zero bearing on my life, but it comes down to something actually matters...

Interesting situation there.. you know that several of the Azeri military actions have coincided pretty closely with Russian reverses or Ukrainian offensives? Think I posted about it a few times back in late 22 and early 23. Point is to stretch Russian resources so they have to renege on their security...

Now that one's a blast from the past, over two years old that post. Got that one pretty wrong on two counts. First thing was whilst I did understand that Russia was then a lot less militarily capable than most folks seemed to think I didn't know how extensively the US and UK had armed and helped prepare...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...oil_production Well for one that's just factually wrong if you're talking about oil supply since the US produces something like 15% of the world's oil all on it's lonesome even without Western hemisphere nations like Canada, Mexico, Brazil or Norway. The US is t...Dr. Z likes this.

Fascinating and very human story, man. The kinda random motivations and events that often get lost in the rigid 'good vs evil' narrative. Thanks for the share....

I remember that chick in the pic, she wasn't killed by the Russians or anything just says she was 'found dead in her bed', no suggestion of suicide but also logged as 'not suspicious' which - well, kinda looks suspicious as hell. Ain't the only foreign fighter / volunteer found dead in suspicious circumstances...

Well the underlying principle is sound - since we all seem to be being prepped for a wider war instead of seeking to de-escalate, energy infrastructure would absolutely become a target for both sides - and don't for a moment believe we don't also have the capacity and will to inflict similar damage...Prince Madison likes this.

No other fight in the sport I've looked forward to as much in the last few years. Bud vs Spence had gone too far off the boil by the time it happened and Usyk - Fury has had some of the lustre taken off by Fury's sub-par performances. Honestly this one should have happened a coupla years back too but...Smash JakeTheBoxer like this.

Been meaning to ask you about that one Queenie, not that I'm calling into question your honesty, cos I seem to remember hearing something similar at the time, but I've since tried to look into it and haven't been able to either find the story or verify the accuracy of it. Curious innit, the high proportion...

Here's the thing though, I know a few Iranians, good people - mostly students and academics, but a few naturalized British also - and the predominant feeling seems to be that whilst none of em (that I know) like the regime much they're also profoundly sceptical and suspicious of Western attempts to...

Lotta other reasons many of which already been touched upon by others - in additon we have documentary evidence early members of the Zionist movement (I'm thinking Jabotinsky but I'd have to check) explicitly sold the idea of a Jewish Palestinian state to the British go...
