I watched many of Butterbean's crappy little fights. He didn't fight over 3, 4 rounds for a reason. He is fat. He beat guys who were in much better shape than he was until one decided not to lay down, then the **** hit the fan.

Yeah, Butterbean has some skills for an obese individual. He has quick hands and doesn't need a whole lot of technique for his punches to carry a lot of sting. His lard offers him some protection as well, besides which he is obviously a strong and muscular individual under all the fat. He had mixed success in MMA's also, but never beat anybody at a serious level. Emelianenko would kill him. And Holmes was only about 80 years old in 2002. Quite making excuses for this tub of lard.

Butterbean was fun to watch and an inspiration for fat people, but unfit to tie George Foreman's laces the second time around. All this being said, if this guy is half the fighter Butterbean is, he doesn't need to lose an ounce. But, that being said, there is only 1 Butterbean, or Two Ton Tony Galento, or other big guys I could name who trained on beer and pizza. How about Bob Sapp, who was solid muscle, and still got his ass handed to him by smaller guys at a world class level. Generally speaking, the bigger the man the smaller the heart.

And quit the crap about how fat protects the joints. Probably the leading reason for joint replacements in the world today is people who walk around or run their whole lives from a young age at weights way more than their joints can support. The only reason they don't have more joint replacements is most of these grossly obese people are dead by the time they hit 50. And, while I'm on the subject, fat people aren't usually fat because they enjoy being fat. They just use food better than other people. I couldn't get up to Fatboy's weight if I ate all day long every day. His metabolism is a disadvantage nowadays when there is plenty to eat and drink all the time.

So, you will need a lot of discipline, Fatboy, to get into any kind of shape. And you are smoking too? I wish you could have seen my mother in the hospital on Thursday whining and moaning thanks to a lifetime of smoking. She's a nicotine addict just the same as any heroin addict and I don't expect her to live another year. Every cigarette she smokes is one more nail in her coffin....

As was pointed out earlier, this is really only an issue with people who have abnormally (unhealthily) low bodyfat percentages and people who consume zero dietary fat.

this thread is weird. from the initial post, it seems like it would be obvious what you should do on your off days, disregarding the fact that you are overweight, you are training for a fight. you know what you have to do. i will echo the other knowledgeable posts in this thread and say don't go too hard, work to your ability. get a sweat up and workout for 20-30 minutes 4-5 days out of the week.
honestly man, i think people did you dirty in this thread for no apparent reason, you should have asked your coach instead, some people in this thread i think were trying to demean you instead of help you. don't work out for 2 hours a day, i think that's borderline impossible for your progression and people who are smaller than you don't even workout for that long. there are champion pro boxers that don't even workout that long, and there are some who workout longer than that. but yeah, these dudes saying everyone must workout for 3 hours a day, 6 days a week sound flaky to me at best and seem to be trying to up themselves.
some people look at the word 300 pounds and think that's impossible to come back from, but you probably only have to get down to around 240-260 give or take, which you are not that far from in my opinion. you may even be bigger than that if you have a lot of muscle mass, but we won't be getting into that.
don't let people discourage you and tell you that you can't do it because your "fat". **** them man, just do what is right for you. even without much experience, you can probably kick the asses of those who have nothing better to do than talk about you over a safe internet connection.

Yeah you could do to lose a bit of weight maybe down to 230 - 250 before fighting, but if you think you can go the 4 rounds and put up a fight and have a good chance of winning i dont see why you shouldnt go for it.. if your coach and yourself honestly think your ready then i dont see any reason why not to atleast have a go no matter what weight you are.

But the whole point for me has always been to win so for that you want to be in the best shape possible, and only you know if your feeling good or not, dont let your coach force you into this, if your not ready tell him that.. and if you still want to fight then get on a proper diet (fruit, fish, meat, water, oats etc..), train atleast 3-4 a week i train 4 times a week and the days im not boxing i do light weights, so maybe try that with some skipping/running, just push yourself to the limit every session and you will get the results.

Also with the cigs if your only smoking 3 a day its pretty ****** you obviously arnt really addicted to them because most smokers i know smoke like a pack a day, believe me its not worth it my dad recently has been diagnosed with lung cancer hes only 42.. its a ****ty habit and you should drop it straight away.
