I've thought about this for a minute or so since the last post. You are too heavy to box seriously at this point. Stay out of the competitive ring till you lose some weight, like about 50 pounds at least. I'm serious. You are going to get discouraged, if not hurt.....

i may get my ass handed to me but ill shake his hand and tell him good job no matter what. im actually not in that bad of shape for a fat guy. i can spar 3 rounds. i nkow that aint sayin much and my coach said i have some of the quickest feet hes ever seen for a big guy. i just posted this wanthing a workout to do on the days i dont go to the gym. not to be rediculed. being rediculed only makes me more motivated. but some of the posts have helped. but seriously how did butterbean do it? it amazes me.

Butterbean's fights were fixed, which is public knowledge. And he never went over 3 rounds, although he wasn't bad for a fat guy.....

Look at it this way. In a street fight, you will win most of the time just based on size, unless somebody pulls a weapon of course. In the lesser ranks of boxing and MMA, you will probably also win more than you lose, just based on size again. But among serious pros and even amateurs, it won't be a question of IF you get your ass handed to you.....either get in shape or just have fun at the local level and don't worry about it. I'm guessing you didn't come on this board so someone could tell you it's OK to be fat and you will probably become a world champion by being 100 pounds overweight.

I just want to back up what PunchDrunk said- when you're big, overdoing it can be real bad for you, just be consistant and make sure you're diet is moderate (going on a crazy diet can often make it much harder in the long run) - get your veggies, protein, and slow burning carbs.

In addition to PunchDrunk's suggestions, I would add that you should be exercising however you can, whenever you can. If you find yourself sitting around for more than five minutes, do some stretches, or some pushups, or some reverse crunches (lift your knees to your chest), or squats, or something. Even 30-60 seconds of punch-out shadowboxing. You don't have to kill yourself at it, just do something. Anything. Keep changing it up. At 310 lbs., you're burning mad calories every time you move, so keep moving. All that exercise adds up quicker than you'd think. At your size, the weight should come off fast if you apply yourself.

Good luck, man. Let us know how it goes.

This is an interesting situation, You have a long way to go and a short time to get there. You have plenty of time to drop a huge amount of weight. I'm not going to be negative in regards to your weight. I was 350 when I started to box at 18, 3 mos. into it I had lost 100lbs.
It is absolutly imperitive that you start on a descent diet. TODAY and stick with it. Cut out any added sugars. I mean ALL of them. No more white flour, or white flour products. Fruits and Veggies are going to be your new best friend. So will be Fish, Turkey and Chicken. NO FRIED foods. also eliminate pre packaged foods "means learning how to cook fresh food" You are going to need a lot of water. Don't dring anything else. You are going to have to cut your calorie intake in half. And split it up between at least 4-5 meals. Try to cut out most of the fat calories you are consuming. Its a lot to think about when shopping or deciding what to eat, but you have to change your lifestyle.
Now with the exersize. Now would be a good time to start a weight training routine. It takes a lot of caloric energy to weight train. Don't start anything too heavy, And don't train like a Body builder. Keep movements "exersizes" compound. ie. Clean and press, Power Cleans Squats, Bench Press etc. Your legs are the main focus but make sure to work everything to strengthen ligaments and bone structure. "you can leave curls and exersizes that isolate any particular body part"
It would also be a good idea to make exersize a part of your every day life. ie. riding a bike to get where you need to go. Bicycling is an efficient low impact aerobic exersize with a good cardio impact. Aerobics cut the fat very well. The confusing part is that Boxing is an anaerobic activitiy and doing aerobic exersizes isn't very benificial to a boxing program. And anaerobics are not as efficient at burning fat. What I"m getting at is you need a balance of both. and a good variety to your routine. In time plyometrics interval sprints and a variety of intense training will be a part of your routine. For now the impact to your joints needs to be kept to a minimum. With a god diet and constant activity reaching a level of fitness good enough for starting these exersizes isn't far off. For now do a lot of walking, Biking Get to the gym MORE!!! Don't matter how just get there. I wouldn't dream of fighting with out at least 5 days out of a week for skills training. spending a total of 4-6 hrs on those days in the gym. Im not sugesting you try to train like I do, but I am trying to stress the importance of your gym time. It is what makes you, Lack of it will break you. You are large. but not with the heavyweights I've faced your close to average in height and slower with the extra weight. you will need to learn how to deal with the faster apponents. especially in the amateurs light fast punchers will eat you alive. Just be determined and It'll work out. don't worry about the nerves we all get the butterfly's Every fighter is afraid before a match. The other guy is going through exactly what you are. Train hard and smart and you will have everything you need to overcome those adversities. I'm not going to wish you good luck cuz I know you can do it.

First of all he's got multiple 4 round decision fights, second of all, his 3rd fight was a 6 round decision win in 1995, third, he lost a 10 round decision to Larry Holmes in 2002. Maybe your claim that his fights were fixed is as accurate as your other claim?

Take a look at the KO 41 seconds in, and tell me that's not legit.
