  • Cereal and carbs...

ok, so i have to admit im still alittle bit confused about carbs and how they can be stored as fat. For example, I eat about 2 bowls of cereal every morning (honey bunches of oats or just corn flakes, no sugary crap) and use fat free milk...total carbs on that can add up to aroung 80g and I am just wondering if that is too much...how long does it take for carbohydrates to be stored as fat etc? I just want to make sure I am not eating too many carbs for breakfast since I do not work out until night time (school wont allow me to..too many classes etc).

All forms of concentrated sugar ie white sugar, brown sugar, malt, glucose, honey, syrup r fast relesing carbs, causing a rapid increase in blood sugar levels. If this sugar is not requirted by the body it is put into storage, eventually emerging as fat.

Keeping blood suagr balance is probably the most important thing in maintaing even energy levels and WEIGHT. The level of glucose in ur blood mostly determines ur apitite. When the level drops u feel hungry. The glucose in ur blood is available to ur cells to make energy. When the levels r 2 high the body converts the excess to glycogen (a short term fuel mainly found in the liver and cells) and FAT, the longer type of energy reserve.

Corn flakes dont maintain even sugar levels eat oats instaed. U may suggest that milk is afast releasing sugar(lactose) However it is made up of glucose fast releasing and galactose slow relesing. The suagr in the milk cannot be used as it is, since cells run only on glucose whcih slows down this suagrs effect on the metabolism.
