  • Do You Train When Sick?

I came down with Strep Throat this week and havent gone to train all week. I didnt really talk to the trainer but felt this was the best for me, also didnt want to get any other fighters sick as they have a competition coming up. Do you guys go to train when real sick or sit it out?

I never train when I'm sick, I focuss on getting better so I can train hard when I'm well again.

I never train when I'm sick anymore. I tried it once and I was sparring on that day. It was hell

Now I just wait to recuperate and then kick some ass

I still do a workout routine when I'm sick. I don't know how smart it is but I've never been one to let sickness stop me. But I do lessen the intensity a bit.

Training when sick is a universally bad idea. Sickness of any kind means the body (on a cellular level) is fighting constantly. It doesn't need any help from the rest of you. Sparring/training while sick wont (typically) get you sickER, but it will keep you sick LONGER because after training your body has to repair muslces, replace fatigue with new energy, AND combat whatever infections your dealing with.
