Some days he'll do 6*3 mins other days it's 8-10. He's amateur so he's only training for 3 round fights tho.
Is it working better for him when compared to running?

I'm sure he's running at a good pace but who can do a series of 3-4 minute "sprints"? I'm thinking about 440 yards would be around the upper limit for anything like a sprint, about 50 seconds. For me not much more than 100 yards, if I'm going to do a series of them.

I like that idea though, in principle.

He prefers it, easier on his joints he used to get shin splints from distance running but this seems to suit him better.

Yeh it's not a balls out sprint, more like as fast as you can manage for 3 mins. Then rest and go again.

Initially you find you will need more rest say 2 mins between sets but gradually you adjust the tempo so you can manage 1 min rests and hopefully over time you can increase pace.

It's worth experimenting with, i definitely find long runs can just be a bit boring so breaking out this type of interval work is a relief.

Sprint a lap around a track, walk for a minute. Take note of where you are on the track and then sprint again doing the same. 3 round fighters, do this 3 times. Others push out what you can. ................Rockin'
