Power actually comes from your lower back/torso mostly..the old adage the ground up is not exactly true in boxing. Power will be generated with a stronger twist or lock from the waist area. Power from the legs up is true but not necessary, most knock outs happen without both feet planted...the uppercut really is the best punch to have both feet planted. The lower back is vital for stronger punching in better balance in itself.

Punching mechanics using the lats/biceps will generate the stronget shots.....the tricep/ back shoulder will be the straighter shots...concentrate on lifting movements that correlate to the punch...I use 10/15 pound weights shadow boxing b/c when I put on the gloves it feels like a feather...the myth not to go over a certain weight is exaggerated...the heavier weight you can SAFELY shadow box with the better off you are and the stronger you are getting and is a work out in itself...Wlad uses around 7 pounds when shadow boxing....always increase the weight when you can without struggling so you don't over extend your joints/etc....

I know a LITTLE bit about power so that's my two cents.

      Thanks
More than anything else you need to learn to relax. Relaxed muscles work faster than tense ones an speed equals power.

I don't believe there is a way to increase speed and power.
You hit hard when you set your feet, sit on your punches, and turn your hips.
Rarely in a fight do you get an opportunity to throw picture perfect punches, and when you do, the other guy is covered up.

Nothing beats catching them coming in or leaning in.

If there was a proven way to increase speed and power every fighter in the world would be on it.

Escudo, the comment above me here gave you VERY GOOD advice.

When throwing combinations you can improve your speed simply by minimising the the time gap between punches.

To increase punching power emphasize body rotation in each punch (like the drum in karate kid 2)

They are technique improvements not exercises, power is more about technique than strength.

To increase strength, work on your press ups and pull ups, hit the bag as hard as you can. If you want to lift weights; do squats, deadlift, bench press and overhead press.

And work on abs, especially there strength at rotation.

Power alone is from putting your body weight into fast motion. The faster you can put your body-weight behind a punch the harder you hit. A lot of fast fighters don't have that big of a punch because they aren't putting their body weight behind it for the sake of speed alone.
