The harder your try to swing the worse your technique will be. It's like swinging a baseball bat if you ever played. The hips do the work the arms follow.

Correcting yourself visually if overdone can alienate you from the process. You must be in tune and not just analytical. A good punch just feels right you gotta find the feeling.
I've watched slow-motion scenes of boxing matches, and it seems some boxers rotate their hips every-so-slightly before throwing their arm.

No.
as you figured out lower body movement is slow and suddle. when energy moves up to arm it becomes faster and faster like a whip.
so push off and let the hip fire your arm out.its easyer if you practice with hands low.
fck the basic rules you gotta learn to punch hard before a good defense.

In your mental imagery. View your legs as a reservoir. Your hips as the sluice gate...and your arms as a watetmill. The gates movement is noticible, and the mill's movement even more so. The reservoir, however, is primarily, at first, a potential energy. So even in tape, if something else seems to move first..the legs were already activated..that energy reservoir primed for use.
The more obvious movements you see the legs/feet doing are flair. The majority of work has already been done by your ever present root.
Other obvious feet movement are those related to movement. But you must keep your reservoir available..even when in movement.
Important not to obsess about what should go first.. concentrate on maximizing your power and channeling your energy properly from the floor up.
