  • How do you warm up before sparring?

Do you work out prior to sparring? Do you just do some shadowboxing and light bag work/mitts? Stretch?

Also, same question for the trainers here; how do you have your fighters warm up before sparring?

I think it's best to spar before you work out but after warming up. You can figure out the things you need to work on in the actual work out from sparring.

I spar after a full blown boxing workout so there you go. But yeah I guess if you were warming up do the same thing as before a fight, shadow box + pads.

        this brings me to question.....
should u spar before or after or in the middle of a full workout??

i personally think it should be warm up -> spar.
but i been to two **** gyms, both sparred after workouts.
given that they were ****, i dunno its a reliable routine.. (those gyms are the ones with structured classes lmao)

You loosen up for sparring as goes: Stretch as you need, loosen up, shake it out and start shadow boxing. After you've put in your rounds shadow boxing then you are good to jump in and spar. If you aren't sweating than you are not working. A fighter would be perfect to glove up and be in the ring sparring 3-5 minutes later, with a perfect sweat.

Sparring early or when ever you can get in.

I usually tap the music double-end bag, shdowbox, and listen to pump up music.

You should never hop into the ring cold.

Before sparring i will do a 3-5 min general warm up, then a couple rounds skipping plus a couple rounds shadowboxing, to break a sweat and get warm.

Spar at the start of a session preferably, however with more advanced guys sometimes its good to get in a couple rounds while already fatigued after a session, to improve endurance.

I've done sparring at the end of the workouts, but it wasn't like all out sparring.

It was more me vs inferior competition with me just working on keeping busy in the ring when I'm exhausters, keeping the jab out.

Its not fun, but when your in the ring for real it's nice knowing that you have experience training exhausted. Were your exhausted, that's when you really find out how hard you trained, because when that doubt kicks in, not sure there's a worse feeling in the world.

Tbh most times I just shadowbox and hit the bag a little. Unfortunately I get dparring whenever available so sometimes a guy will walk in after I've shadowboxed for 4 rounds and hit the bag for 4. I'd shadowbox and jump rope if I knew I was guaranteed sparring upon arrival. I prefer soarring at the beginning after warming up a little. One time one of the coaches thought it would be good to spar after doing sprint intervals and a half hour weights circuit. Got murked because I was so damn tired.

Back when I used to train we would do a couple of rounds shadow boxing before sparring. This was back in PR, so it was easy enough to start sweating and loosening up before jumping in the ring. I would probably do a little more, maybe light work on the mitts or some jump rope if I was in a colder environment.
